NCC Announces three new releases & clubtour

New Cool Collective announces two new albums, a special Record Store Day release and a club tour. In the run-up to their 25th anniversary next year, the band continues to forge ahead with an even more productive year than ever.

New Cool Collective Big Band feat. Thierno Koité album

As a 19-person big band formation, NCC has worked on many different projects, like the annual opening of Amsterdam’s Uitmarkt, Guus Meeuwis’s record Hollandse Meesters as well as a string of albums. Now they are back with new material. Set for release on 12 May: an album recorded together with Senegalese saxophonist Thierno Koité (of Orchestra Baobab / Le Sahel).

This special release marks the 20th anniversary of New Cool Collective’s label Dox Records.

During a tour and recording session in Senegal in 2013, New Cool Collective met up with Thierno Koité after an Orchestra Baobab concert. New Cool had long been fans of Thierno’s characteristic style and timing, and Koité was a huge inspiration during the Senegal tour. The musicians exchanged phone numbers and in 2016 they added a new dimension to their connection. Combining forces they found the funds to organise three concerts and a recording session with Thierno in The Netherlands, eventually resulting in a complete album.

Record Store Day release
For Record Store Day a seven-inch single will be released on 22 April featuring Yassa and Myster Tier. The tracks are live recordings from a gig at LantarenVenster, Rotterdam on 12 May 2016, with a limited edition of 500 pressings on coloured vinyl.

Electric Monkey Sessions II

New Cool Collective is currently in the studio recording the follow-up to their lauded 2014 release Electric Monkey Sessions, named after the recording studio in Amsterdam North. This is the band’s 19th album. It will be released in the autumn.

Club Tour
The eight-person formation is on tour in The Netherlands this autumn and the spring of 2018 to do what they are best at: creating a party atmosphere in which the audience have no choice but to get on their feet and move to the beat with one surprise after another.
